It took in the dawn.
In their house.
She is a housewife who has a
weak heart and doesn't have
the guts to stand up with her
partner.
It took on Sunday night.
In a nipa hut in the middle of mountains.
Anna Dela Cruz, twenty-two years old, is a waitress in a bar. She killed someone because she is defending herself.

At the beginning the wife is in
the middle of a battle with
herself, with her mind, on
what is she going to do. She
is in lack of sleep.
She can hear the footsteps of
her husband and the sounds
of their cabinets, the bag.
And by those sounds, she can
understand that her husband is sad and has a heavy heart
about what happened.
Her husband kissed her and
she can still smell the beer
that they drank last night. He
left, and she cried.

Anna’s thoughts are
pacing out, looking at
the ceiling of the hut.
Suddenly she burst out,
she let her feelings out
about the guys who are
chasing her.
She made up her mind,
that she need to stand
up for herself. She is
going to surrender
herself to the police to tell them what really
happened, that she just
defend herself. While
she let her feelings out,
she also told her
boyfriend that not just
because the family of
the guy she killed is
wealthy and powerful
that doesn't mean they
can do whatever they
want.
She told her boyfriend
that she doesn't want
him to be involved in
the problem. She told
him, how tired she is
and she want to stand
up for herself.
Definition of Terms
Pagitan ng dilim at liwanag
Denotative- dawn, morning twilight
Contextual- the sun is in dawn.
Recontextual- The scene takes at night time, where she stared at the ceiling of the
nipa hut.
Character Sketch
Anna Dela Cruz is a twenty-year-old girl, who used to be a waitress in a bar. She is wearing shorts and a denim jacket that fits her well. She used to live in a simple house in the city, but right now she lives at a Nipa Hut in the middle of the forest. She hides from someone who wants to kill her. She is surrounded by trees and animals, she can hear the clear sounds of birds. The sounds of birds calm her well, it made her think of some memories she treasured.
